TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Commander, Navy Region Hawaii (CNRH) N9 NAF employees who are regular full-time are eligible for the Tuition Assistance (TA) Program. Child & Youth Programs (CYP) and Appropriated Fund (APF) employees have their own guidelines they must follow.
The CNRH TA program is designed to provide employees with an opportunity to continue their education and to improve skills and knowledge in areas mutually beneficial to them and the organization. Courses must be work-related or part of a degree program relevant to the employee’s current position, or a position within the Federal Agency to which the employee aspires and must be offered at an accredited high school, trade school, college, or university. Applying for the TA program requires approval by your supervisor.

Undergraduate Level Yearly Maximums: | $250 per semester hour for up to 12 semester hours or $3,000 per fiscal year

APPLICATION PROCESS
Eligible employees may apply for participation in the Tuition Assistance Program. For benefit consideration, employees must complete and submit an ‘application package’ containing a written request/TA Program Application form to their supervisor or via www.greatlifehawaii.com/employees. Application packets must be submitted electronically.
Application packages are reviewed and approved or disapproved by the Supervisor, and Regional Program Manager prior to final approval. The CNRH Regional Training Manager (N947) is required to have all employee application packages by the deadline date. Late applications will not be accepted and are not retroactive. The employee's part in the application process is outlined as follows:
- Establish an Individual Development Plan (IDP) with direct supervisor.
- Research and explore additional financial aid resources for educational expenses to maximize all available resources (e.g., scholarships, grants).
- Complete written request/ Tuition Assistance Application.
- Submit application and all supporting documents (e.g., course outline, degree program) to supervisor for review and approval.
Once the employee's part is completed, the supervisor will review and take appropriate action.
